Obviously. In the mariadb-5.5.28a/Docs/mysql.info file, they state that 
one should go to http://dev.mysql.com/doc for the MySQL reference manual,
and to http://kb.askmonty.org for the MariaDB manuals. There is 
in fact a page for the MariaDB APIs (although predominantly linking to empty 
documents):

However, there is a link to a sparsely written client API documentation.

Yes. After having included the fix you provided for the QString/utf8 issue, 
the test suite completed successfully with MariaDB 5.1.66.
