And I, after reading your email, still have no idea what you want to do.
But one thing is for certainm this looks wrong:

> --custom-type=v/string/string
> --custom-type=v/::std::string/::std::string

Take a look at the evolution/passthrough example, perhaps it does something
similar to what you want to do.
