I made a simple test case out of this as well as your schema and
the sample XML document:

You can copy it into the the examples/ directory of the binary
XSD distribution and simply run make.

I tried it with Xerces-C++ 2.8.0 and XSD 3.3.0 -- everything works
without any problems. Can you take a look and see if you can make
this test case fail?
