We did some testing for a client with the XDR being about 10 times
faster than XML parsing on the sample data set. The result, however,
will vary depending on the vocabulary. That is, the difference will
be greater if your XML contains mostly numerical data with a lot
of markup. I can send you the test we use internally if you would
like.
